Sign Board Making in Palakollu

Rates on this page are not confirmed yet. They are market typical for the district and are here so the page has a working shape. The page stays out of Google until the shop checks every figure in the table below.
In short

Sign boards start at 45 rupees per square foot for ACP with vinyl lettering, and run to 320 rupees per square foot for acrylic letters lit from behind. We measure the site ourselves within about 40 km of Palakollu, because a board ordered to a paced out measurement almost never fits the frame.

A sign board is the one thing about a shop that gets judged from across the road, before anybody reads a word of it. Most of what we make goes up along the main roads in Palakollu and the mandal towns around it, for medical shops, showrooms, clinics, hotels and godowns. The decision that matters is not the design. It is the material, and that follows from where the board is going and how long it has to survive there.

How it works, step by step

  1. We measure the site

    1 day

Send a photograph of the shopfront with something in frame for scale, or we come and measure. Within about 40 km we come. A board ordered to a paced out measurement is the single most common reason a board has to be recut.

  2. Material decision

    same visit

This is where we earn the job. We tell you what the board should be made of given the wall, the exposure and how long you want it to last, including when the cheaper option is the right one.

  3. Design and proof

    1 to 2 days

You get a mock up showing the board against a photograph of your own shopfront, not against a blank rectangle. Check the spelling and the phone number out loud.

  4. Fabrication

    2 to 7 days

Depends entirely on the type. Flex and ACP are quick. Acrylic letters are cut, polished and mounted individually, which is why they take a week.

  5. Installation

    half a day

We fit it. For lit boards your electrician makes the final connection, and we hand over with the driver and the wiring diagram.

ACP is the honest default for a shop on the main road. It is aluminium composite, so salt air does not rust it, and changing a phone number later means recutting a vinyl strip rather than remaking the board.

Four things we tell customers that they do not expect

  • Letter height decides everything, and there is a rule. One inch of capital letter height for every ten feet of reading distance. A board read from across the main road, roughly sixty feet, needs six inch letters. If your words will not fit at that size, cut the words rather than the letters.
  • Do not put an MS frame flat against a coastal wall. Water sits in the gap and the frame rusts from behind where you cannot see it. We pack the frame off the wall by about twenty millimetres so it drains and dries. It costs nothing and it doubles the life.
  • Any board projecting over a public footpath needs municipal permission, and the responsibility is yours, not ours. We will make it either way, but we mention it because people find out later and at their own cost.
  • Order the board before the shutter is painted, not after. The board is fixed with anchor bolts and the drilling chips fresh paint every time. Two days of sequencing saves repainting the shopfront.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a shop sign board cost in Palakollu?

Flex on a frame is 45 rupees per square foot, ACP with vinyl lettering is 85, and ACP with 3D acrylic letters is 190. A typical eight foot by four foot ACP shopfront board works out to about 2,720 rupees plus the frame.

Which sign board material lasts longest?

ACP, meaning aluminium composite panel, gives five to seven years outdoors and does not rust in coastal air. Flex on a frame lasts one to two years. Acrylic letters last longest of all but cost roughly double ACP.

Do you measure the site or do I give you the size?

We measure, within about 40 km of Palakollu. Send a photograph of the shopfront first and we will confirm a visit. A board made to a paced out measurement is the most common reason one has to be recut.

How long does a sign board take?

Flex on a frame, two days. ACP with vinyl, three to four days. Acrylic letters, seven to ten days, because each letter is cut, polished and mounted individually.

Do you install the board as well?

Yes, and installation inside Palakollu town is included in the rate. For lit boards your own electrician makes the final connection. We hand over the driver and the wiring diagram with the board.

Can I change the phone number on the board later?

On an ACP board with vinyl lettering, yes, we recut a vinyl strip and replace it for a few hundred rupees. On a flex board the whole sheet is reprinted. On acrylic letters the individual letter is remade.

Do I need permission for a shop board?

For a board flat against your own shopfront, usually not. For anything projecting over a public footpath, yes, from the municipality, and that permission is the shop owner responsibility rather than the printer.
