The most common reason a bill book comes back to us for reprinting is not a printing fault, it is a compliance one. Under Rule 46 of the CGST Rules a tax invoice has to carry a specific set of fields, and invoices for goods must be printed in triplicate with each copy marked ORIGINAL FOR RECIPIENT, DUPLICATE FOR TRANSPORTER and TRIPLICATE FOR SUPPLIER. Services need two copies. We see bill books every month, printed elsewhere and used for years, that carry none of those markings. If you are not sure about yours, bring it in and we will check it against the rule for you at no charge.
Serial numbering is the other thing worth settling before printing. The series must be consecutive and unique within a financial year. Most businesses here restart at 001 on 1 April; some prefer a prefix like 26-27/001, which makes it obvious at a glance which year a bill belongs to when you are hunting through a drawer two years later. Numbering is done mechanically at binding and included in the price.
For letterheads, the practical decision is paper weight rather than design. 100gsm maplitho is the standard and handles a rubber stamp and a ballpoint without bleeding. Bond paper feels considerably better in the hand and costs about 50% more, which is worth it if the letterhead goes to customers rather than into a file. Order 1000 rather than 500, the price per sheet drops sharply and letterheads do not go out of date unless your address does.
One piece of advice we give every new business: keep your logo as a vector file somewhere safe, and send us that rather than a copy pulled off your own website. Website logos are typically 72dpi and print visibly fuzzy at any size. Businesses come to us every month having lost the original and needing it redrawn from a photograph of their own signboard. Redrawing costs ₹300 once; after that every job uses the clean version.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a GST bill book cost?
From ₹350 for two duplicate books of 50 sets each, and ₹500 for triplicate. Serial numbering and your GST details are included. Five books cost ₹800.
How many copies should a GST bill book have?
Three for goods, original for recipient, duplicate for transporter, triplicate for supplier. Two for services. Each copy must carry that marking printed on it.
How long does bill book printing take?
3 to 4 working days from proof approval, including numbering and binding. Urgent jobs can sometimes be done faster, call 98666 38967 before travelling.
Can you match my existing bill book format?
Yes. Bring or photograph your current bill and we will match the layout, then check it against Rule 46 and tell you if anything mandatory is missing.
What paper should I choose for letterheads?
100gsm maplitho is the standard and takes a stamp and ballpoint cleanly. Bond paper feels better and costs about 50% more, worth it for letterheads that go to customers rather than into a file.
Do you print prescription pads for doctors?
Yes, 100 leaves per book with your clinic name, degrees, registration number and timings, from ₹750 for two books. We ask for a photograph of the registration certificate so the number is verified, not typed from memory.
Do you offer bulk rates for offices?
Yes. Print jobs improve from 500 pieces and gifting items from 10. Send the item and quantity to 98666 38967 for an itemised rate the same day.
What is carbonless bill book printing?
Paper coated so writing on the top sheet transfers to the copies below without carbon paper between them. It is what almost every bill book now uses, and the sheets come in different colours so the original, transporter and supplier copies are easy to tell apart.
How many pages are in a bill book?
Fifty sets per book as standard. A duplicate book has 50 sets of two copies and a triplicate has 50 sets of three. Most businesses order two or five books at a time.
What is envelope printing used for?
Letterheads posted to customers, invitation cards and anything a business sends out. Printed envelopes carry the business name and address on the flap or face. Minimum five hundred, from 900 rupees.
Not sure which to choose?
Send us the photo and tell us where it is going. We will tell you which material and size to order, including when the cheaper option is the right one.
