In short

Product labels start at about 2 rupees each at one thousand pieces on paper, and 4 rupees on waterproof vinyl. Vinyl wall and glass stickers are 35 rupees per square foot with lamination. Tell us what surface the label is sticking to, because the adhesive matters more than the printing.

Product labels for aqua feed, rice and pickle packers, barcode and price labels for shops, vinyl for shutters and glass, and safety stickers for factories. The question that decides the job is never the design. It is what surface it is going on and what that surface is going to go through. A label that peels in a cold room was the wrong adhesive, not a bad print.

Die cutting to a custom shape carries a one time die charge of about 1,200 rupees. Standard rectangles, squares and circles use existing dies at no extra cost.

How it works, step by step

  1. Tell us the surface and the conditions

    2 minutes

Glass, plastic, metal, a poly bag, a jute sack. Room temperature, cold room, outdoors. This decides the material and the adhesive and it is the part that goes wrong when it is skipped.

  2. Shape and size

    same day

A standard rectangle, square or circle uses a die we already have. Anything else needs a die made, which is a one time charge of about 1,200 rupees and stays with us for your reprints.

  3. Artwork and proof

    1 day

If the label carries statutory matter, meaning FSSAI, net weight, batch and date fields, check it against the rules before printing rather than after.

  4. Print, laminate, die cut

    2 to 4 days

Printed, laminated where the material calls for it, and cut on the die. Delivered on sheets or on a roll, and you should tell us which because it depends on whether they are applied by hand or by machine.

What actually makes a label fail

  • Adhesive is chosen for the surface and the temperature, not for the print. A standard adhesive applied to something that then goes into a cold room lets go within days as the label contracts differently from the surface. Aqua and food packers here get caught by this most often, and the fix costs the same as getting it right.
  • Labels on a poly or woven sack need a high tack adhesive because the surface flexes constantly. A normal label lifts at the corners inside a week of handling. Tell us it is going on a sack and we specify differently.
  • Leave a two millimetre quiet margin inside the die line. Die cutting drifts slightly across a run, and text sitting right at the edge on the proof gets clipped on some of the labels in the batch.
  • Order the die once and keep it with us. The first custom shape costs about 1,200 rupees for the die. Every reprint after that skips it, which is why your second order of the same label is noticeably cheaper than the first.

Frequently asked questions

How much does label printing cost in Palakollu?

Paper labels are about 2,000 rupees for one thousand, so 2 rupees each. Waterproof vinyl is 4,000 for the same quantity and freezer grade is 5,200. A custom die shape adds a one time charge of about 1,200 rupees.

What label should I use for a bottle that gets wet?

Waterproof vinyl at about 4 rupees each. Paper labels wrinkle and lift with condensation and wiping. If the bottle also goes into a cold room, use freezer grade instead.

Why do my labels peel off in the cold room?

Wrong adhesive. Standard adhesive loses grip below about four degrees because the label and the surface contract at different rates. Freezer grade adhesive is made for it and costs about a rupee more per label.

Do you print barcode labels?

Yes, on thermal rolls sized to your printer. Tell us the roll width, the core size and whether your printer is direct thermal or thermal transfer, because the wrong roll will not feed.

How much is a vinyl sticker for a shop shutter?

Thirty five rupees per square foot laminated, which lasts two to three years outdoors. One way vision for glass, which reads from outside and lets you see out, is 45 rupees per square foot.

Can you cut labels to a custom shape?

Yes. Standard rectangles, squares and circles use dies we already hold. A custom shape needs a die made, about 1,200 rupees once, and it stays with us so every reprint skips the charge.
